Hey Chick, As brutal as this truth is, every one of us has been touched by breast cancer in some way. Our sisters. Our mothers. Our aunts. Our co-workers. Our pickleball gal pals. Ourselves. Every time I hear about another diagnosis in our Chicks community, I feel wildly mad at cancer—and honestly, a little helpless. But here’s the thing: We are not helpless. On Saturday, September 12th, the annual BRIGHT Run happens right here in Hamilton. Thousands of people will lace up to run or walk, raising more than half a million dollars for breast cancer research at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. And while they’re running at Christie Lake Conservation Area, we’ll be rallying on the pickleball courts during our second annual Battle for the BRIGHT Run Crown. 100% of the proceeds from our pickleball event will go directly into the lab coats of the brilliant breast cancer researchers at Juravinski. Sounds good? Keep reading. :) The DetailsSaturday, September 12th 11:00 a.m. — All Chicks Round Robin 2:00 p.m. — Chicks & Sidekicks Dinking-Only Event Our goal? To put $5,000 into breast cancer research from one fabulous day of playing pickleball. Which, to me, feels like us shooting 5,000 middle fingers at breast cancer. And hey, this event is extra special because Hamilton is the Canadian heart-home of the PickleballChicks. When breast cancer f*cks with one of our hometown girls, we come out swinging.
