Hello Chicks!
I'm popping in quickly to let you know TWO things:
- I will be sharing news of a Charity PickleballChicks event that will happen in early December. Stay tuned for news about our first #ChicksGiving!
- Starting this Monday, by popular demand, PickleballChicks will be running DUPR EVENTS 3x a week, every week, week in and week out! FAQs and registration links are at the bottom of this email if you're in a hurry :)
A little background:
Why is PickleballChicks so into DUPR?
Well-matched games are fun games! And the easiest, most reliable way to know who to play for the best games is to have a reliable DUPR rating.
That's why PickleballChicks works hard to offer fun, friendly, safe and supportive DUPR events that just feel good.
If you're saying to yourself; "I feel anxious about DUPR and being rated. I'm just here for fun." We hear you sister.
But this is my take on it: Your DUPR rating is not a reflection of YOU. It is a snapshot of your pickleball game on your good days, your bad days, your hotshot days and you're 'OMG I should have stayed in bed" days.
I encourage you to want a DUPR rating and to add more and more games to it every week so you can find yourself in well-matched, feel good games more often.
Here's our Weekly PickleballChicks Villages Schedule - it isn't changing so plan on being with us each week if it's a good fit!
In the south: Homestead Saturdays 2-4pm - Your PickleballChicks Host may be Cheryl, Christina, Sharon and Cindy depending on the week.
In the middle: Clarendon Mondays 2-4pm. Your PickleballChicks Host is Cheryl with help from Cindy.
In the north: Saddlebrook Wednesdays 2-4pm. Your PickleballChicks Host is me, Sharon!
To join in our sessions, you must have a Pickleheads account. It's easy, just visit: https://www.pickleheads.com/l/4GPkt6DDQ866
You can register for events up to 7 days prior to start time.
Some PickleballChicks DUPR FAQs:
- Do I need a DUPR rating to join in? No, all you need is a DUPR account. We will get you your initial (starting) DUPR rating with one game.
- I've heard I need 20 games to get a DUPR rating, is this true? No. You need ONE game and that will give you your initial (starting) rating. The "20 games" comment is about getting your rating to be more "reliable" ... the more games you log, with the more people, the more "reliable" your rating.
- I have a DUPR rating and a bunch of games already, can I still join? Yes. We would LOVE you to join as the more varied skill levels the better.
- I don't want to play games that go toward my DUPR rating. Should I still register? Unfortunately, no. All of our game scores are sent to DUPR. Stay tuned for other events we may launch that are not DUPR.
- I'm happy to play one game with players of a different skill level, but really, I want well-matched games. Can I find them with PickleballChicks DUPR events? Yes. We use Pickleheads as our registration app and it creates our on-the-court Round Robins. The app is smarter than us and it creates well-matched games. After each round it looks at how you performed and bases your next round of matches on that. So far we have found Pickleheads to be good at creating competitive, well-matched games.
- How do I register? You must register ahead of time on the Pickleheads registration platform. You can do this online or on the app (you download). To get started visit https://www.pickleheads.com/l/4GPkt6DDQ866 . To register for our fun, friendly DUPR sessions all you need is a DUPR account - not a DUPR rating. We will get you your DUPR rating with one game.
- What is Pickleheads? I'm confused. Pickleheads is the platform we use for registration. It is an app. It makes our lives easier on the back end.
- Can I just show up at the courts and play? Not advised but it can work. Although we can add players at the last minute it makes it a bit tough for your host. We advise you to register ahead of time. If you happen to be driving by the courts during our time period, you could pop in to see if there's room - no harm in trying if you're in a last minute mood!
Over and out Chickadees, have a great weekend and I hope to see you on our courts soon!
Sharon!
